Badminton

 Badminton is a racquet sport played using a racket to hit a shuttlecock across a net. While it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of play are “singles” (with one player per side) and “doubles” (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as an unusual activity in the yard or on the beach; formal games are played in a rectangular inner court. Points are scored by hitting a shuttlecock with a racket and landing it on the opponent’s side of the opponent’s court.

  Here is a brief overview - the rules are simplified

  Scoring System

•   The match consisted of 3 best games with 21 points.
•   Every time there is a serve - there are points scored.
•   The team that wins the rally adds one point to its score.
•   On a total of 20, the team that got the first 2 points lead, won the match.
•   At 29, the team scored its 30th point, winning the match.
•   The team that wins the game serves first in the next game.
•   Intervals and Final Changes
•   When the main score reaches 11 points, the player has an interval of 60 seconds.
•   A 2 minute interval between each game is allowed.
•   In the third game, the player change ended when the main score reached 11 points.

 Single

•   At the beginning of the game (0-0) and when the server scores are the same, the server works from the correct service court. When the server score is odd, the server will be served from the left service court.
•   If the server wins the rally, the server gets one point and then re -serves from the alternate service court.
•   If the receiver wins the rally, the receiver gets one point and becomes the new server. They serve from the appropriate service court - left if the score is odd, and right if even.

  Double

•   The side has only one ‘set’.
•   The service is handed over to the player as shown in the diagram.
•   At the beginning of the game and when the score is the same, the server works from the correct service court. When it’s odd, the server works from the left ring.
•   If the serving team wins the rally, the served team gets one point and the same server serves again from the alternate service court.
•   If the receiving team wins the rally, the receiving team gets one point. The receiver part becomes the new delivery part.
•   Players do not change their respective service courts until they earn points while their team is playing.
